Five friends laugh and talk around a wooden table in a warm, modern tea house, holding small cups, with a glass teapot of amber tea and a small plant on the table.

Tea culture, from everywhere

Tea, Community, and Planet.

Tea content from tea lovers and stories from the world's most remarkable tea houses and tea bars, and an invitation to be kind to yourself, to each other and to the earth.

Our Mission: we invite humans from all origins, nationalities, and gender to slow down, be kind to yourself, others, and the planet.

What we invite you to do

Three small kindnesses.

i.

Be kind to yourself

You can't pour into someone else's cup if your cup is empty. Slow down. Allow yourself to be you. You don't have anything to prove. Live authentically and choose faith over fear.

ii.

Be kind to others

Pour of yourself into others. Show kindness to others just because. Life is more beautiful when we have strong connections. To support and be supported by others strengthens the soul.

iii.

Be kind to the Earth

As we pour into and care for our planet, it pours back into us. Life is sacred. We only have one planet to call home. Explore it, marvel at it, enjoy its fruits, and take care of it.

Tea is one of the best excuses there is to sit down together. A kettle, a few leaves, and a reason to stay longer than planned.

The people we feature work at tea's pace: they grow carefully, blend patiently, pour with attention and make room at the table. We think that is worth telling, and worth emulating.

Two ways to the same table

Day or night, tea brings people together.

The ritual and the tea bar are two doors into the same room: a pause, something in your hand, and someone across from you.

Same leaves, different vibe. The original tea house becomes the tea bar.

About us

We love tea for the cup and for the table it sits on.

We are tea lovers, and we try to stay tea students. We love the cup: the aroma, the color, the small surprises in a good leaf. And we love the culture around it: the rituals, the rooms, the people who spend whole lives on one hillside or one pour.

We came to tea partly for how it makes us feel. Its relationship with health is an active field of research, and we follow it carefully. We will tell you what the evidence shows and what it does not, and we will never promise a cure. What we can say from experience is that the pause is half of it.

So we are building a home for the people who do it best. AROMA tells the stories of remarkable tea houses and tea bars, and of the people behind them: the bar chefs and mixologists reimagining the leaf, the families who keep a house open year after year, the growers and organizations who look after the land the tea comes from.

We credit everyone by name. We say how we know what we know. And we are not paid to rank anyone.

Wherever you are, you are welcome at this table. Slow down. Be kind to yourself, to the people beside you, and to the earth that grows the leaf.

  • Slow on purposeWe would rather do good than be first.
  • Curious, never snobbishNobody needs a vocabulary test to enjoy a cup.
  • People firstWe like to celebrate and recognize good humans everywhere.
  • Gentle with the earthWe feature those who tend land, water or communities well.

We are not a medical service: nothing here is medical advice. We are not a ranking you can buy. We are not in a hurry.
